Course Details
This course combines classroom and practical sessions. Those attending will gain an insight into the principles and operation of infusion devices whilst facilitating them to become confident in determining performance verification. Coupled with practical sessions that will allow individual practice with individual and multi-channel infusion device testing using specialist test equipment within a safe environment.
Who the course is for?
The course is ideally suited for clinical/medical engineers who wish to expand their knowledge of the principles of operation of infusion devices as part of continuous professional development.
Course Aim
To provide participants with the knowledge of the principles of positive displacement infusion pumps and syringe drivers, applications, and maintenance procedures.
Course Objectives
- Describe and apply knowledge of infection prevention and control within a clinical engineering environment
- Describe medical electrical safety with reference to BS EN IEC 62353
- Describe the principles and applications of infusion devices
- List hazards and alarm functions associated with infusion devices
- Perform electrical safety testing, verification, and performance testing on infusion devices, using specialist tools and test equipment
