Course Details
This course combines classroom and practical sessions. Those attending will gain an insight of the anatomy and physiology related to cardiovascular equipment and facilitate our learners to be confident with applying the principles of operation of the equipment. Coupled with practical sessions that will allow individual practice with defibrillators/ECG, patient monitoring, and specialist test equipment within a safe environment.
Who the course is for?
The course is ideally suited for clinical/medical engineers who wish to expand their knowledge of the principles of operation of cardiovascular equipment as part of continuous professional development. This course may also be of interest to those who have responsibility for the maintenance of ambulance mounted electromedical equipment.

To provide delegates with a good understanding of cardiovascular related equipment, its operating principles, applications and maintenance procedures.
Course Objectives
- Describe cardiovascular related equipment used in a medical environment
- Explain the physiology related to cardiovascular equipment
- List main hazards associated with cardiovascular equipment
- Describe the principle of operation of the various cardiovascular equipment
- Perform maintenance, safety testing and performance testing on ECG Recorders, Defibrillators, BP Monitors and SPO2 monitors using the appropriate specialist test equipment
- Describe the medical electrical safety with reference to IEC60601/IEC62353
