Who is the course for
This course provides the knowledge and skills for people involved in the management of flexible endoscope decontamination, either in dedicated endoscope units or sterile services departments; Users, decontamination leads and estate managers.
This course does NOT cover the hands-on practice of decontamination (by the Operator) and periodic testing of automated endoscope reprocessors.

To provide learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully decontaminate flexible endoscopes in a safe and effective way, and in line with current guidelines.
BY THE END OF THE COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
– Describe the construction, care, handling and use of flexible endoscopes used in medical practice.
– Explain the process of flexible endoscope decontamination and storage.
– Explain the role of washer disinfectors in endoscope reprocessing.
– Interpret machine data for product release.
– Describe the periodic testing of flexible endoscope washer disinfectors and interpret test reports.
– Describe traceability systems for endoscope reprocessing.
Prerequisite to attending the course
Delegates attending the course should be working in an endoscopy environment and have some operational knowledge of endoscope decontamination.
