Who is the course for

This course is aimed at National Health Service staff or contractors required to carry out periodic testing of flexible endoscope washer disinfector.

Aims & objectives

To provide Learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out the recommended periodic testing procedures of endoscope washer disinfectors in accordance with standards and NHS guidance.

BY THE END OF THE COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

– State roles and responsibilities relating to the decontamination of endoscopes

– State the procedures for quarterly and annual (Periodic) testing of flexible endoscope washer disinfectors

– Outline the construction, care, handling and use of flexible endoscopes used in medical practice

– Calibrate and use specified test equipment

– Demonstrate quarterly and annual testing methodology

– Complete test records and correctly interpret the results

Prerequisite to attending the course

Learners would find it beneficial to have witnessed quarterly or annual testing of endoscope washer disinfectors, have an understanding of thermometric testing and are conversant with HTM01-06 part D & E prior to attending the course.
