A significant milestone has been reached at Eastwood Park this month, with the first courses delivered from our brand-new training facility at our South Gloucestershire site.
There was a palpable buzz of excitement in the air on the Monday morning as the first learners were welcomed through the doors of our long-awaited new training centre, ready for the week ahead.
Among the first courses to be delivered was the Authorised Person Lift Management (HTM 08-02 & LOLER & SAFed), taking full advantage of our new and comprehensive lift training lab, which includes fully working traction, MRL and hydraulic lifts. The classroom area and practical labs share the same space, meaning that a hands-on demonstration is never far away from classroom-based theory, significantly enhancing the learning experience.
This course has itself undergone a transformation, extended from 4 to 5 days to allow for the additional practical experience this new lift training facility affords, particularly around MRLs. Anyone who has completed lift training with us previously will notice an immense difference in our facilities and we are looking forward to welcoming many more learners through our doors soon.
Also at the new facility for the first time were several electrical courses; the Authorised person LV (HTM 06-02) and refresher and Competent person LV (HTM 06-02), as well as our Authorised person (decontamination) - role & responsibilities training.
Learners enjoyed our spacious and modern classrooms and once again, easy access to practical equipment. This will be further reflected later in the month, with high voltage training using our ‘real-life’ HV open ring system with fault simulations, live HV phasing, high voltage pressure testing, cable fault location and spiking, practical protection testing and HV grading studies.
Work now continues to fit out the rest of the centre and other training portfolios will be introduced at the new facility on a phased basis throughout this year. Until then, we will be delivering our full training offering across a blended mix of our existing and new facilities.
John Thatcher, CEO of Eastwood Park commented
“I am delighted to see the first phase of training commence at our new centre after so many years in the planning and what has been a real ‘journey’ for us here at Eastwood Park.
At times it perhaps would have been easier for us to lease a building on an industrial estate in which to continue training delivery, as many other providers do. However, we have persevered and it is fantastic that the potential I saw in Eastwood Park over 30 years ago is finally being realised.”
“I can only thank our industry colleagues for supporting and bearing with us this far, especially those who are supporting us with equipment to fit out the new facility, part of an ongoing process.
This is a real opportunity not only for Eastwood Park to prove itself as a leading training provider to the engineering and estates and facilities management sectors, but also for suppliers to showcase their equipment to the market, so if you are interested in being a part of this exciting venture, please do get in touch.”
