Who is the course for

This course is aimed at persons who handle gas cylinders and other related equipment in laboratories and other similar environments including research parks, pathologies and universities.

Aims & objectives

The course provides learners with the knowledge and skills required by the HSE and BCGA to use compressed gas safely and correctly.

BY THE END OF THE COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

  • Identify gases, associated hazards and the necessary precautions
  • Identify different types and their uses
  • Identify cryogenic gases, associated and necessary precautions
  • Carry out safe handling of cylinders
  • Correctly and safely use cylinders including changing cylinders on manifolds
  • Define the requirements of the permit to work system
