Who is the course for?

This course is for delegates who have previously completed the 5-day APD or 4-day DAPD, Authorised Person (Decontamination) course.

 

Aims & objectives

This course offers an opportunity to learn the evolving role of the AP(D), gaining awareness of the need to understand risks and gain awareness of the need for development of protocols that are in compliance with your organisations safe systems of work.

 

BY THE END OF THE COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

  • Explain and use relevant guidance and standards for decontamination equipment and the associated built environment.
  • Explain the role of the AP(D) and the recognition of its responsibilities within the framework of an organisation.
  • Recognise engineering governance requirements to undertake role of the AP(D), to include permit to work and Competent Person assessment processes.
  • Explain procedures for risk management, safe systems of work and derogations from recommendations.
  • Demonstrate internal auditing of periodic test reports in conjunction with contract requirements.
  • Receive an update on innovations for equipment, environments and processes associated with medical device decontamination.
  • List consequences of noncompliance within own areas of responsibility.
  • Explain the value of best practise, processes and procedures and how it protects the organisation and individuals.
  • Explain the risks and consequences if there is a H&S incident related to decontamination equipment within the organisation.

 

Real life practical scenarios, undertaken as group exercises, are a fundamental part of this training.
