This course is for Existing QC (MGPS) Pharmacists who are currently on the national QC register whom require medical gas CPD and assessment for re registration on the UK national Register.
The aim of the course is to refresh skills and competencies to meet the criteria of both HTM 02-01 and the “UK Pharmaceutical National Medical Gas Group” enabling the student on completion of practical assessment and Exam to be re-registered on to the national register.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Identify hazards of Medical gases and the necessary precautions
- Identify and understand the components which make up a medical gas system to HTM 02-01
- Describe the correct method of cylinder management
- Complete permit to work forms and define the role of the QC in the PTW process
- Operate medical gas test equipment (particulate filter, dew point, oil mist and gas analysers)
- Carry out quarterly testing of manufactured gases
- Carry out the Pharmaceutical testing as HTM 02-01 standards on newly installed pipework. Including problem solving
The course meets the requirements of “UK Pharmaceutical National Medical Gas Group” (should you require clarification on the registration process it is best to contact Lynn Morrison or Tim Sizer)
The course is activity based involving both table top exercises and hands on practical, for the practical gas testing please could you bring your own test equipment so we can compare findings as part of the learning process and share experiences.
Quality Controller retraining and reassessment should be carried out at regular intervals. The recommended interval for refresher training is every 5 years.

How long will you hold provisional bookings for?
Provisional bookings will be held for one week (7 days) from the date of booking.
As we are facing a high demand for course places, we kindly ask you to confirm your place as soon as possible.
If you do not confirm this booking within this period, unfortunately we cannot hold the place for you and the provisional booking request will be removed from the system.
Will I need any PPE?
If you are booked onto one of our Competent or Authorised Person courses then you need to bring suitable clothing for brazing and a pair of safety shoes or boots for cylinder handling. Gloves and eye protection are provided by Eastwood park. Call our Sales team for advice on +44 (0)1454 262777.
When will I need refresher training?
It is recommended within HTM 02-01 that refresher training should be carried out every 3 years.
The Competent person MGPS (HTM 02) refresher is for Competent persons who have previously attended medical gas pipeline systems courses for competent persons and who now require updating on current guidance and best practice.
Authorised person MGPS (HTM 02) refresher is aimed at Authorised persons who need updating on current guidance and best practice working on medical gas pipeline systems.
Our Quality controller MGPS refresher is for existing QC (MGPS) Pharmacists currently on the national QC register and who require medical gas CPD and assessment for re-registration on the UK national register.
