Is this course for you?

This course is aimed at estates staff who are involved with medical gases and may have to respond to a medical gas related issue.

Aim

The course is designed to provide the delegate with the knowledge and competencies required by the HSE and HTM 02-01 to work on a restricted range of medical gas plant safely and correctly.

Objectives

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Identify medical gases, associated hazards and the necessary precautions
  • Identify different types of medical gases and their uses
  • Correctly and safely use medical gas cylinders including changing cylinders on manifolds
  • Carry out daily and weekly medical gas plant checks competently
  • Explain the requirements of the permit to work system
  • Define what to do in an emergency situation and the correct response to alarms
  • Repair / replace terminal unit 2nd fix components

Additional information

The course is run at the Eastwood Park Training centre, where a working medical gas pipe system is installed for “real” practical work, the course is a split of 50% classroom based and 50% practical work.

Overnight accommodation is available on site for the night prior to the course

Training can also be provided at your site for up to 8 delegates. (A suitable training room and access to manifold and medical gas plant rooms would be required)

HTM 02 recommends refresher training at a period not exceeding 3 years
