Eastwood Park's live medical gas pipeline system is unique within the UK.
Is this course for you?
This course is for those with experience of medical gas pipeline systems and who are involved in the design or project management these.
It is suitable for existing Authorised Persons, project managers, contractors and consultants involved with MGPS installation.
The course will enable suitably experienced personnel to design or check designs of MGPS systems as identified by HTM 02-01.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Define the requirements for terminal units, AVSU’s and line valves including their location as HTM 02-01
- Interpret the requirements for alarm systems and locations as HTM 02-01
- Apply the requirements of plant and pipe work installation as HTM 02-01
- Apply the principles and algorithms in current guidance to the design of medical gas pipeline systems.
- Apply the requirements of secondary supplies and other back-up systems
Learners should bring a copy of HTM 02-01 Parts A and B with them.
The ability to use Microsoft Excel is a requirement and learners should bring a laptop (or similar) with this installed. In the event that you do not have access to a laptop, please speak to Eastwood Park before you arrive.
It is an advantage to have completed Eastwood Park’s Authorised Person MGPS course or similar previously, however this is not essential.
HTM 02-01 recommends that training for the role of Authorised Person should be undertaken:
Eastwood Park, Falfield, was formerly the NHS national training centre for healthcare engineering and now, as an independent company, we are the leading provider of technical healthcare engineering training in the UK.
Our medical gases plant room is fully equipped to support our live medical gas pipeline system.
How long will you hold provisional bookings for?
Provisional bookings will be held for one week (7 days) from the date of booking.
As we are facing a high demand for course places, we kindly ask you to confirm your place as soon as possible.
If you do not confirm this booking within this period, unfortunately we cannot hold the place for you and the provisional booking request will be removed from the system.
Will I need any PPE?
If you are booked onto one of our Competent or Authorised Person courses then you need to bring suitable clothing for brazing and a pair of safety shoes or boots for cylinder handling. Gloves and eye protection are provided by Eastwood park. Call our Sales team for advice on +44 (0)1454 262777.
When will I need refresher training?
It is recommended within HTM 02-01 that refresher training should be carried out every 3 years.
The Competent person MGPS (HTM 02) refresher is for Competent persons who have previously attended medical gas pipeline systems courses for competent persons and who now require updating on current guidance and best practice.
Authorised person MGPS (HTM 02) refresher is aimed at Authorised persons who need updating on current guidance and best practice working on medical gas pipeline systems.
Our Quality controller MGPS refresher is for existing QC (MGPS) Pharmacists currently on the national QC register and who require medical gas CPD and assessment for re-registration on the UK national register.
Do I need to bring any documents with me?
