This course is aimed at staff involved in the safety testing of electrical medical equipment who require an update.
To provide a sound understanding of the philosophy in Safety Testing of Electrical Medical Equipment
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- List the hazards of electrical medical equipment and identify its causes
- Classify electrical medical equipment based on Class and Type in accordance to IEC60601-1
- Differentiate the different tests performed
- Differentiate between testing to IEC60601-1 and IEC62353
- Perform routine electrical safety testing in accordance to IEC 60601-1/IEC 62353
This course involves performing electrical safety test in accordance to IEC 60601-1/IEC 62353 on various medical equipment commonly encountered in a medical environment.
This course will provide the underpinning knowledge and skills to undertake other 3 day and 10 day equipment focused courses in the Eastwood Park medical equipment portfolio.

What medical equipment do you cover?
Eastwood Park’s medical equipment training covers machines such as ECG, defibrillators, patient monitoring, infusion devices, premature baby incubators, foetal monitoring, physiotherapy equipment, surgical diathermy and an introduction to anaesthesia & ventilators.
