This course is for healthcare staff required to operate and/or weekly test endoscope washer disinfectors.

Aim

This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to complete routine checks and verification tests required within a weekly period on endoscope washer disinfectors.

Note: This training does not override local protocols for production processing or manufacturer/supplier obligation to provide adequate instruction for equipment operation.

Objectives

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Identify necessary safety precautions when performing Weekly Testing
  • Recognise the necessary process steps for decontamination
  • State the main responsibilities of key personnel as defined in HTM 01-01 Part A
  • Carry out weekly testing as specified in HTM01-06 Part D
  • Prepare and use process challenge devices
  • Complete test records and correctly interpret the results
