This course is aimed at National Health Service staff or contractors required to carry out periodic testing of flexible endoscope washer disinfectors.
To provide delegates with the necessary skills and procedural practices to accurately carry out the periodic testing of flexible endoscope washer disinfectors in line with current standards and guidance.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Describe the procedures for annual testing of flexible endoscope washer disinfectors.
- Demonstrate annual testing methods for flexible endoscope washer disinfectors.
- Complete test records and correctly interpret the results.
- Describe the microbiological tests listed in standards and guidance.
- Explain the results obtained from an external laboratory.
- Evaluate workplace logbooks and quarterly/annual test records.
Prerequisite to attending the course
You must have passed WTM2 - Automated endoscope reprocessors - quarterly testing (to NHS guidance) to attend this course.
On completion of WTM3, those who are working in a Test Person/Competent Person (CP) role may wish to progress to porous load sterilizers:
STM2 - Large porous load sterilizers – quarterly testing (to NHS guidance)
STM3 - Large porous load sterilizers – annual testing & revalidation (to NHS guidance)

How long will you hold provisional bookings for?
Provisional bookings will be held for one week (7 days) from the date of booking.
As we are facing a high demand for course places, we kindly ask you to confirm your place as soon as possible.
If you do not confirm this booking within this period, unfortunately we cannot hold the place for you and the provisional booking request will be removed from the system.

Our Introduction to Decontamination (IDO) course is ideal for anyone who has a need to know about decontamination but who is not familiar with it, providing you with a broad, high-level understanding of the purpose and constraints on decontamination practices and in particular the role of the sterile services department (SSD) in the broader healthcare setting.
